An engraved copper-like box boasts the work of the fifteen shortlisted artists of the 1st edition of the Navigator Art on Paper Prize.
The Navigator Art on Paper Prize, created by The Navigator Company, is an international art competition that supports and highlights the artistic creation on paper.
This is the largest award at the international scale to draw attention to paper as medium for artist expression, encompassing several areas from painting to drawing, illustration, print-making or sculpture.
The entire catalogue was produced using papers produced by The Navigator Company, using the latest printing technologies to achieve the shiny foil finish, adding a physical quality to the book and encouraging readers to engage with it in a tactile way.
The leaflets inside present the award and the 15 shortlisted artists. Completely unfolded, each artist’s dépliant turns into an A2-sized poster.
The unusual format is inspired by the loose papers in a box of the catalogue of Alternativa Zero, the 1977 exhibition that was the turning point in the contemporary art scene in Portugal.
